Jules Sturm

Critical Embodiment.

«Theories of critical embodiment aim to counter persistent trends of stereotyping human bodies into fixed categories of gender, race, ability, or age. With the help of artworks and cutting edge theories, my research on non-normative bodies challenges not only the constraints of social norms, but also the visual mechanisms that maintain and perpetuate them. Theories of the body aim to reveal the abundance of possible meanings and the great conceptual capacity of our bodies.»
